When portraits speak
A discussion moderated by Dagmar Van Weeghel, photographer, with Lys Mehou-Loko, photographic model.
With BLOOM, photographer Dagmar van Weeghel explores how inherited visual histories shape the ways we see, remember and represent one another. Keeping her own position within this history visible, she questions how photography might challenge the visual languages it has inherited—and what happens when those traditionally placed at the margins of the image move to its centre. For this conversation, Dagmar is joined by Lys, one of the women she photographed and the host of the upcoming podcast that extends BLOOM from image into voice. Together, they will explore what changes when representation becomes dialogue, when the conventions of photography are questioned, and when those represented are given the space to speak for themselves.
