Olga Yaméogo
Born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Olga Yaméogo (1966) moved to Toulouse in 1982. Driven by creative energy since childhood, she is convinced of the saving and liberating aspects of art. Yaméogo initially studied art therapy before dedicating herself to artistic practice. Her debut as a painter coincided with the affirmation of a newfound freedom.
Through her paintings, she captures the contemporary history that is marked by massive flows of populations forced to migrate. In her style of portraiture, the artist places the individual at the centre of this narrative. Migration, the body and crossbreeding are all subjects that Olga Yaméogo uses to question different facets of globalisation.
